Career mobility is applicable to everyone working today. But it is especially relevant to young adults and students who are just starting out.

Most of us are pressured into believing that we need to choose a specialty or a certain academic degree. We are conditioned to believe that these decisions will be permanent and lifelong. This school of thought is no longer relevant.

With the rare exception of a very few lines of work where the entry barrier is really high (like becoming a doctor or a civil engineer), most careers today can be pivoted and switched in and out of, with ongoing effort and learning.
