Twenty-five years ago, career options were limited. The choices came down to doctor, lawyer, engineer, and regular undergraduate degrees like science, commerce, and arts.

If we use the analogy of ice cream, all they had in the past was chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

But today you have rum and raisin, Oreo, cookies and cream, espresso, rocky road, and chunky monkey. Flavours that were quite unimaginable twenty-five years ago.

Let's keep ice cream aside for a second.

Jobs today are just as varied, complex and multi-disciplinary. This wide range of options makes choosing much harder than it was for the previous generations. We hence need to be more patient and compassionate because choosing is indeed hard.
