Breakups can impact our mental health in significant ways. If someone has a pre-existing mental condition, it can even amplify that condition. The most common feeling however, is that of grief.
A breakup is a loss of a relationship, and a loss leads to grief. We may experience a variety of emotions like deep sadness, anger, loneliness, and anxiousness. At times a breakup can also trigger depression.
Looking after our mental and emotional health should be the top concern if we or someone we know is going through a breakup.
