It's true that too much and unreasonable peer pressure impacts our mental health negatively. But that doesn't mean that all peer pressure is bad.

Human beings are social animals, and a lot of our good behaviour is actually motivated by society. If the people we spend time with are goal-oriented or committed to their work, it influences us positively. For example, when we watch our friends take brave decisions or practise a skill with dedication, it encourages us.

So the goal is twofold: 1) to leverage peer pressure and get something positive out of it, and 2) to resist negative peer pressure. But it's on us to distinguish between the two.
