An important step in managing and avoiding burnout is to recognize its five stages.
Stage 1 is the honeymoon phase when things are new and exciting, but there's also some stress regarding how we perform.
Stage 2 is early stress when we start to notice the physical symptoms of anxiety and stress.
In stage 3 we experience constant stress and exhaustion.
Burnout is the fourth stage when feelings of emptiness and self-doubt begin to creep in.
The fifth stage is habitual burnout, when burnout becomes very harmful and can trigger other mental illnesses such as depression.
